Eco-Friendly! - Use Drapery Street design solutions made from eco-friendly fabrics and linings!

Improve the comfort and efficiency of your home. Drapery Street combines innovative design with a tradition in textiles, dating as early as 6000 BC, resulting in luxury and warmth. Here is how:

1. Buy local/buy American

Our draperies are manufactured at our local workroom in Indianapolis. This results in accountability for the integrity of our product and production process. Shipping is minimized because our product is produced in a centralized location, as opposed to outsourcing to overseas locations.

2. The majority of our selection is from non-petroleum resources.

Most of the textiles offered at Drapery Street are made from natural fibers. Silks and linens by nature are green products because they are produced from natural materials instead of petroleum based. All of our printed linens are dyed and printed within the United States. Some of our silks have been taken a step greener with dyes that are azo-free (free of carcinogens and lead). Others are made from recycled waste silk. The result is a beautiful couture quality drape that is eco-friendly.

3. Insulating Linings and Interlinings

Drapery Street's “English Bump” interlining (standard in
every Drapery Street drape) and our 100% premium cotton lining increases the R-Value of a window up to 300%!

The U.S. Department of Energy has established that up to 40% of a home’s energy loss can be through the windows in the winter (and 20% in the summer)! The most common and accurate means for determining energy conservation is the “R-value rating system” that measures how efficiently material resists the transfer of heat via conductivity. Industry tests have shown that the heavier constructions of the Drapery Street type linings when used along with the drapery fabric, create additional areas of trapped air which have proven to be of significant value in preventing thermal loss.

Drapery Street linings are an important element for a home owner concerned with energy loss and high energy bills. In addition to the insulation benefits, linings give a drape fullness and prolong the life of a drape - protecting the face fabric from sunlight.

4. Recycled iron hardware

Produced using the same finish as the Oscars, our Florence Iron Collection is produced from recycled metal
