Top 3 Most Popular Drapery Pleat Styles
Different drapery pleat styles are one of the things that make custom drapes stand out from off-the-rack drapes. Pleats give drapery panels structure and shape. Without pleating, drapery panels can look limp and lifeless; pleating gives your drapes a presence, and makes your drapes look like an intentional style choice rather than an afterthought.
The top left image features the bleecker pleat. Drapery Street owner Caryn O’Sullivan has created the bleecker pleat, a custom pleat you’ll find only at Drapery Street. The bleecker pleat is our most popular pleat, and is the standard pleat for our ready-to-drape and made-to-measure products.
Why does Drapery Street use the bleecker pleat? Caryn created this pleat and uses it as the Drapery Street standard because it is the perfect blend of customization and value. The bleecker pleat is beautiful, functional, and able to be constructed efficiently. This allows us to provide a gorgeous custom drape for our clients without an exorbitant cost. Because of the innovation of the bleecker pleat, our workroom can produce high-quality drapes at the best possible price for our clients.
The top right image features another look for the bleecker pleat. Similar to the knife pleat, the bleecker pleat has a sharp, crisp edge, and creates fullness without bulk. The result is a very clean and tailored look.
The lower left image shows a custom made French pleat with button accents. This particular pleated drape was created for Walter Knabe Studios and made to their specifications. The bottom right image features a small goblet pleat, which creates a delicate accent at the top of the drapery panel.
