Each type of window blind has its pros and cons. For example, wood blinds are lighter in weight, provide better insulation, and exude the warm richness of real wood but they aren't for use in rooms with high humidity. Whereas faux wood blinds are heavier in weight but they are great in rooms with high heat and humidity while still resembling the look of wood. The are also more affordable.

The great news is that if you work with Drapery Street, you don't have to extensively research or agonize over which material or type of treatment is best suited for your space. Our designers are extensively trained and have years of experience. They know all the considerations to take into account (so you don't have to) and will guide you to the best selections for each room of your home.

We would advise against using genuine wood blinds in rooms with high heat or humidity. However, Hunter Douglas EverWood faux wood blinds are great for this application. They are designed to withstand muggy conditions like bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens. They are guaranteed to never fade, yellow, warp or bow, even in extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. They have the luxurious look of wood blinds with realistic grain patterns and finishes.

With many gorgeous stains and colors to choose from, you can match real wood blinds with your interior window casings and moldings, so they’ll feel like part of the room’s architecture. You can also customize your blinds with a wide selection of finishes, slat sizes, upgrades, decorative tapes, and cornices.

Our wood blinds & faux woods blinds are available in 2" or 2 ½" slats. Our metal blinds come in ½", 1" or 2" slats.

Keep in mind, if you go with smaller slats, it will take more of them to cover the windows and may make larger windows look too busy. As a rule, larger slats look better with bigger windows.

If you don't love the choice you have made, contact your designer within 30 days of installation, so we can work with you until you are satisfied.
