Which type of roller shade is right for me?
With a clean, modern look and so many fabric, design and light-control options, roller shades are the perfect choice for almost any type of application. Features like the dual-roller option and innovative lifting systems allow for even more flexibility. And as an added bonus, roller shades are easy to clean and work in all sorts of sizes and styles.
We offer several kinds of roller shades. During your consultation, your Drapery Street designer will help you determine your functional needs (light control, UV protection, energy efficiency, privacy, etc) and help you choose the best product to meet those needs.
What kind of light control do your roller shades offer?
With Hunter Douglas' extensive selection of light-filtering and room-darkening fabrics, roller shades let you achieve just the right level of light in a room. The more sheer the fabric, the more light it lets in from the outsideāalthough keep in mind that sheer fabrics donāt offer a lot of privacy. On the other hand, blackout roller shades block out nearly all the light and provide the most privacy. Or, you could opt for Designer Banded Shades, which have alternating sheer and solid fabric bands in the same shade for even more light control.
With the new patented Designer Roller Duolite Shade, you donāt have to choose between having either beautifully diffused light with a view-through to the outside or a room-darkening shade. You can experience both in a single shade for optimal light control.

Should I use an inside or outside mount with roller shades?
One really great thing about roller shades is that they can be mounted a number of ways. An inside mount highlights your windowsābut keep in mind, there may be a small light gap on the sides of the shade. An outside mount covers the window frames. And a ceiling mount can make your room actually seem taller. Your Drapery Street designer will help you determine which mount is best for your home.
Can roller shades be used on doors?
Yes. Hunter Douglas roller shades work well on patio doors and French doors.
Can roller shades be used on bay windows?
Yes. Hunter Douglas roller shades work great on bay and bow windows.

What looks effortless in the finished space was actually a highly customized install across two stories, 15 openings, and a whole lot of behind-the-scenes coordination to make everything feel seamless.
